When I get the longer seat post I will complete the fitting.
At this time I also lubricated the chain and put a little grease on all exposed cables to prevent rusting.
By the way, I weighed the bike on a bathroom scale and it is 30 lbs.

This blog is my evaluaton of the Motobecane Fantom 29 mtb from bikesdirect. Bikes from bikesdirect seem like a good value but there are few owner reviews on the web. Most comments found are from people who have no actual experience on Motobecane bikes. These commenters often advise against buying a bike online and going to your local bike shop (LBS). I do not work for Motobecane, bikesdirect or any other bike company. I am an engineer at the local power company.

Thank you for putting together this blog. It was a great help in putting together my Motobacane 700HT. I've had no bike experience, especially with disk brakes and I was able to put it together without a hitch. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
