It was chilly this morning-- about 42 degrees F. So I put on the balaclava.

And Bradley, you are right. These are Hedge Apple Trees. This website actually sells them for $24 per dozen. They are sold as insect repellents.
This blog is my evaluaton of the Motobecane Fantom 29 mtb from bikesdirect. Bikes from bikesdirect seem like a good value but there are few owner reviews on the web. Most comments found are from people who have no actual experience on Motobecane bikes. These commenters often advise against buying a bike online and going to your local bike shop (LBS). I do not work for Motobecane, bikesdirect or any other bike company. I am an engineer at the local power company.

Just wanted to let you know that I found your assembly posts very helpful. Saved me from having to take my motobecane to a local shop for assembly and adjustments. Finished assembly and began riding this week and am having a blast, so I came back here to check on your updates. Thanks again,

holy cow, I grew up in WC off 100 and use to do that ride out of the downingtown parking lot. killer. moved to AZ now and was going to check out the fantom 29er for a change from my full suspension. looks like it has some great comps for the price.
